LATE SUN PEEKS TODAY NYC RAINOUT TOMORROW
LATE SUN PEEKS TODAY NYC RAINOUT TOMORROW
LATE SUN PEEKS TODAY NYC RAINOUT TOMORROW – Good morning everyone. Early showers have departed now, but clouds remain behind. This will be the theme for most of the day as an area of disturbed weather brushes us from our south as it heads out. There could be some peeks of sun here and there as the day wears on, but don’t expect any long-lived clearing. Highs today will be in the mid 60’s to near 70, but if we can get some extra sun, we’ll get into the low 70’s.
That large system we’ve been watching drift slowly across the Nation will finally make it here a few hours before sunset tomorrow. Any clearing we do get today, will be followed by increasing clouds this evening and overnight. The chance of some steady rain will commence between 3-5am, then increase in probability and intensity throughout the day tomorrow. We could also see a few embedded thunderstorms associated with the strong warm front just to our south. With a brisk easterly wind and showers around all day, don’t expect temps to rise much. We’ll have low to mid 60’s at best tomorrow and rain totals upwards of 1-2″ between tomorrow and tomorrow night.
For Friday, clouds remain in the area, but it should dry out as the day goes on. We’ll still have a chance of some widely scattered showers, especially in the morning, but northwesterly winds will begin the clearing process later on. Expect mostly cloudy skies, then clouds and sun, highs in the low 70’s.
For Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday continues to look like the best day. We’ll have some morning clouds and sun, then the sun should begin to dominate with partly cloudy skies. With the sun and being in between two systems, the NYC area should see a pleasant day and highs in the mid 70’s. Unfortunately, what I’ve been watching for two weeks now is beginning to look like a certainty. Clouds return Saturday night as yet another system moves in, and we’ll have clouds and showers in the area for Sunday. It still remains to be seen if we’re looking at a rainout, but plan on the prospect of at least scattered showers throughout the day and highs in the upper 60’s to near 70. Then, we have to wait and see how fast this system moves out, or if it gets hung up for an extra 12-24hrs. This will dictate how Monday goes, so for now I’m calling for more clouds than sun, chance of a few scattered showers, highs in the low 70’s.
