MICHAELS REMNANTS BRUSH AREA NYC AUTUMN AIR ARRIVES
Good morning everyone. We had a little New York City late night/early morning surprise as Hurricane Michael’s remnants took a slight jog to the north and brushed the area with another shot of heavy rain and gusty winds. Meanwhile, his departure, combined with a strong cold front, is helping to pull down some Canadian air into the Northeast.
Hurricane Michael’s remnants have pulled away quickly out of New York City, but heavy rain and gusty winds remain over Long Island, especially on the east end. In New York City, we have partial clearing taking place, and that gusty wind I was talking about yesterday. Eventually the sun will break out, but we could have some 35-45mph gusts, especially for the first half of the day; highs dropping through the 60’s. Overnight, we’ll see mid to upper 40’s here, but some 30’s will be easily attainable out on Long Island and N&W of the NYC area.
For tomorrow, we’ll have the slight chance of a few morning showers as a weak disturbance moves through the area and reinforces the cool air. Any showers that do occur should be gone an hour or two after sunrise, then we’ll see sunshine and highs in the mid to upper 50’s & breezy. Overnight, we’ll see low to mid 40’s in the NYC area and we could see some frost upstate with some low 30’s in spots. Sunday will be the best day of the two, with light winds, sunny skies, and 55-60.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
To start next week, we’ll have the chance of some rain as yet another reinforcing shot of cool air moves on through. We’ll be in the low to mid 60’s Monday, then drop back into the 55-60 range for the rest of the week.
So fall air has arrived and the humidity is long gone. It also looks for now as if we air in this relatively normal to cool pattern for a good stretch as quick moving, reinforcing shots of cool air, move through rather frequently.
