Good morning everyone. We have a stunning day in parts of the Northeast today, where the wind profile will favor very mild to warm conditions and dry. Enjoy it while it lasts, because gloom is heading back into the picture later on Wednesday; with our West Coast system that is destined to cause some headaches in the Midwest this evening before reaching here.
Severe weather looks to fire up some time between 6 and 8pm this evening in southwest/central Nebraska. We’ll start off on the small side, but several lines and clusters will begin to quickly blossom into a nocturnal nightmare for central and eastern Nebraska, parts of South Dakota, eastern Wyoming, Kansas, Oklahoma, and maybe even parts of central/northeast Texas.
By early in the morning, look for some of those storms to be nipping at the heels of western Iowa and southwest Minnesota. Come tomorrow afternoon, these clusters of severe weather will be moving through most of Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, and further into Minnesota.
Look for severe thunderstorm watches and tornado watches popping up between tonight and tomorrow afternoon across the areas mentioned. Large hail, frequent lightning, damaging straight-line winds, and strong tornadoes are possible. Please stay tuned to your local agencies, and listen to any emergency instructions that may alert you overnight.
Here’s your local NYC metro forecast and stay safe everyone –
SATELLITE
Today is an absolute winner, with sunshine, stiff westerlies (they’ll keep us warm and dry), and highs 75-80. We’ll do it again tomorrow, but we’ll drop off slightly temp-wise as the wind profile isn’t as “friendly”. Look for sunshine and highs 70-75.
WEATHER RADAR
We should see some sun Wednesday morning, then increasing clouds as widely scattered showers head in. Highs in the upper 50’s tools 60’s. Thursday is the best chance of rain, with on and off showers and highs only in the mid 50’s for a raw day.
Clouds stick around on Friday with upper 50’s to low 60’s, then we could see some more showers this weekend.
