Never Trust Fake Beavers For Your Long Range Outlook

Never Trust Fake Beavers For Your Long Range Outlook

Good morning everyone and Happy Groundhog Day. Today we put our trust in a destructive and nihilistic creature in order to tell us how the rest of our winter will go, but why? The tradition goes back to German and Dutch roots with their celebration of Candlemas Day. The modern day custom we all know of in Pennsylvania, dates back to its first mention in the 1840’s, and has followed us ever since.

Personally, I do not like groundhogs, they are fake beavers lacking the beaver tail. They also provide no known positive impact on the environment aside from being food for cougars. Cougars do have to eat other things aside from young men, so in this case, bravo, groundhog.

Anyways, the groundhog lacks the correct frontal lobe and cerebral cortex in order to properly use the calculus required to do long range forecasts; so when a groundhog tells you, “I got this.”, don’t believe them. Take their information with a grain of salt, and only allow them to conduct short range forecasts no greater than 12-18hrs.

As for me, my favorite animal is the beaver, so this article may have a biased skew. Here is your regional and local forecast –

Clouds and light rain visit the NYC Metro area today with highs in mid 40’s. We’ll have some late clearing, then we go seasonably cold/chilly overnight and the next few days. Tomorrow and Sunday, the sun returns with highs 40-45, 25-30 overnight.

WEATHER RADAR

Our nasty little storm expected across the Gulf Coast and Southeast, will stay there as weather models return back to a more sane solution. That being said, we are expected a round of severe weather overnight tonight through Monday from west to east; then wind and rain along the Southeast coast Mon/Tue. Some storms may contain large hail and isolated tornadoes, especially in proximity to the Gulf Coast and Florida.

Once low pressure reaches the Southeast Coast, we could see some increased winds, surf, and beach erosion.

Things will quiet down a bit late Tuesday onward, then we’ll begin to watch our next weather-maker for next Friday.
