NOREASTER NUMBER FOUR POSSIBILITY ENTERS PICTURE – Good morning everyone. While still contending with nuisance wind and energy from our latest Nor’easter, mother nature can’t help but have us start watching our back on the Ides of March today for yet another possible strong system early next week.
First and foremost, the sun returns today and he winds calm down a little bit and temporarily. Low to mid 40’s will be the theme for the rest of the week, but we’ll have to deal with more wind tomorrow as a reinforcing shot of cool air comes down to help keep us in those 40’s. With that, our weekend is looking cooler than expected, with low to mid 40’s stretching past Saturday and will now be with us Sunday as well.
Same goes for Monday, then we play the game again like we have for the past 2 weeks. Low pressure will head through the Ohio Valley and try to transfer its energy to the coast. As of this moment, it looks like a coastal hugger, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start off or end with some flakes in the air. Interior parts of the Northeast will have the best chance of all or mostly snow with this one, with mostly rain at the coast. Also, this one looks to be a slow mover in terms of getting all of the energy out.
Recent models are showing leftover energy lagging behind what will become the primary low. Then as the primary begins to exit, the old low gains steam again and moves across the area. These types of systems are very hard for models to decipher and generally don’t work out in the fashion they’re depicted.
Either way, we’ll have to keep a close eye on everything because if that low gets going as the other is departing, it could reintroduce some wet flakes in the air or some sort of wintry mix. Things will change as we get closer, but as of now we’re looking at a late Monday night into late Wednesday night type of stretched-out event. Coastal flooding may also be an issue depending on the track because we’ll be +3 days from the new moon. This will help enhance any storm related tides during a prolonged easterly fetch.
Stay tuned and for those looking for spring, we are on ignore right now.
