NYC ACCUMULATION MAP REMAINS UNCHANGED FOR SLEET MONSTER

Good morning everyone. If you look outside quickly before things melt, we got our little dusting of snow overnight as we inch ourselves towards average snowfall; albeit 1 dusting at a time. Meanwhile, Winter Weather Advisories are up to reflect the snow, sleet, and mix heading our way before things turn to all rain. As stated when this whole story was a twinkle in our eye, this one could put NYC past 10″ for the official seasonal snowfall total if you add up all of the dustings and November snow. 16″ or so more to go…..

EASTERN SATELLITE

Light snow has departed, clouds remain today. Expect mid to upper 30’s, so anything that fell will be gone unless it’s in the shadows. Snow moves in overnight, most likely between 2am and 5am, and with temps mid to upper 20’s, things will surely stick.

SNOW AND SLEET MAP STAYS

The snow and sleet map generated yesterday stays. If there is an upside, I will be off, but in my mind, this covers what “should” come out of this as well as the low end, especially on the Forks and south shore of Long Island/Queens.

Snow will mix with sleet at some point in the morning and we could get an extended period of sleet. Depending on how that warmer air works in, the sleet might be the longest form of precip out of this one aside from the eventual rain. Either way, it does eventually mix, then change to all rain by mid to late afternoon.

Temps will rise overnight tomorrow as rain continues, clearing any visual left over by Wednesday morning. Expect a windy low to mid 40’s on Wednesday with clearing skies, then a beautiful Thursday with mid to upper 40’s as winds calm down.

REGIONAL RADAR

Our next system rolls in for Friday/Saturday, and don’t expect any snow with this one even though people got excited last week. The old pattern returns and we’re in the upper 40’s to low 50’s on this one with big ole fat rain at times. We could even see some flash flood watches go up on that one since the ground will be saturated from Sleet Monster.

Seasonably cold air returns for Sunday and Monday in familiar fashion, then we begin the process again of getting excited too early, and the final stage of grief: realizing we have been cursed by God for eternity with this pattern for worshipping a false idol, the parallel GFS.
