NYC Another Rainy Weekend Possible

NYC Another Rainy Weekend Possible

05/14/24 8:08am ET

Good morning everyone. The Northeast is in a typical May funk, but what really seals the deal is the scheduling of these small, slow moving systems. We’ll go through it again this weekend after a mixed work-week weather-wise; with more clouds, cool conditions, and showers returning Saturday and Sunday after a decent Friday.

We’re also watching the Southeast very closely as our severe weather risk has shifted that way over the past 48hrs. We have some severe weather already this morning across parts of north and central Florida, and tornado watches have been posted in regards. Those watches are posted until 1pm ET, and we could see those watches extended or moved if the storms stay together.

Across lower Georgia, the northern tier of that thunderstorm complex is spreading heavy rain and rumbles across parts of the state. Eventually we will see this action push into North and South Caroline, where we are expecting the possibly of embedded/isolated severe weather as the day goes on. We could also see flooding rains as well.

With any of these storms, look for the potential of large hail, damaging winds, frequent lightning, and isolated tornadoes. Stay tuned to your local agencies for the latest watches and warnings. Here is your local NYC Metro forecast –
