NYC April Pattern Continues With A Few Bright Spots & Gloomy Spots
Good late morning everyone. “Nothing lasts forever” they say, or doesn’t last at all I say, especially this particular March and April. Our fast moving pattern continues, with not much mild air to speak of. We have a few opportunities though late in the month, and that may also come with a cut-off low bringing some prolonged gloom. However, the cut-off low (if it happens), may be the key we need to open the door to spring and a slower pattern.
SATELLITE
Clouds are now exiting the area after a cloudy and rainy early morning. Stiff westerlies will help keep things feeling a bit chilly as the warm sun hardly gets us to 50 today.
REGIONAL RADAR
Tomorrow remains fairly clear and cool, with maybe a few clouds dotting the sky. Near 50 temps continue, then we begin increasing clouds tomorrow night with the next system.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
The first part of Friday looks dry, but rain will head by mid to late afternoon, then continue into the night. The bulk of the rain will happen Friday night, then maybe linger early Saturday morning. Highs both days again near 50. That’s about 10 degrees below average for this time of year.
Sunday looks seasonal with sun & clouds and near 60 temps, but we could see a scattered sprinkle.
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
In the long range, there’s a chance we could see some mild air the following weekend ahead of our next big system. That will all hang how far north the warm front can make it, but behind it we cool off again and into the below average territory once again. Late April/early May, we could see a cut-off low scenarios play out in the east for some prolonged gloom and on & off rain. If this happens, it’ll grind the pattern down to a halt and help the Midwest warm up in a big way.
Hopefully that’ll be enough to change things up a bit, and bring some bigger stretches of spring-like weather into our area.
