NYC BRIEF SPRING TASTE POSSIBLE

NYC BRIEF SPRING TASTE POSSIBLE – Good morning everyone. It’s another cold one out there today and things are looking mushy tonight. However, there’s some good news and positive signs on the way, so hang in for a few more days while Old Man Winter clears his throat and passes gas before taking a nap.

The core of the cold air remains over us from yesterday and temps dipped down into the upper 20’s and low 30’s this morning, but at least the wind is calming down today. Expect mostly sunny skies and highs only in the low to mid 40’s. Clouds increase tonight as a weak disturbance approaches the area.

Because we’ll be in the 30’s again overnight, it’s possible that we could get a light rain/wet snow mix well after midnight. Then, anything leftover changes to rain tomorrow morning as we climb back into the mid 40’s. We clear out for another cold one tomorrow night with temps in the 30’s, then slowly begin our trek towards a taste of spring.

Light Westerly winds on Wednesday will help warm things up to the slightly below normal realm, with sunny skies and highs in the mid 50’s. On Thursday, a large, stretched out front begins to make its slow approach into the area. Look for clouds and sun, highs in the low 60’s, mid to upper 50’s at the shore.

The real warm stuff gets pumped in on Friday, with clouds and sun, and low 70’s possible in the NYC area. Again, the cold ocean will have an influence along the shore, so look for mid to upper 50’s, MAYBE some low 60’s, along the shore.  The warm front wants to really go well north of us on Saturday, but as of now I’m playing it conservative, calling for a carbon copy day from Friday. If we need to modify and tweak the numbers, we’ll do so late in the week.

Things begin to come to an end on Sunday as the warm front starts to get pushed back by the maritime high, and the cold front from the west swings on by. Expect some clouds and showers in the area as of now, and highs in the upper 60’s (cooler at the shore), but dropping through the day.

In the long range, below normal temps want to return for the week of the 16th, then we see if we can get another shot of warmth for late April.
