SHORT LIVED ALTHOUGH WELCOMED NYC SPRING TASTE STARTS WEEKEND

SHORT LIVED ALTHOUGH WELCOMED NYC SPRING TASTE STARTS WEEKEND – Good morning everyone! Cold rain is starting to clear out of the area and clouds will slowly begin to thin out throughout the day as we begin our journey towards some spring weather. It won’t last long, but it’ll remind us that Earth is not broken and it’s just Mother Nature being a pain.

Rain is ending west to east as we speak and we saw a few wet snowflakes mixed in as promised, but we can say goodbye to all of that now and say hello to some salvation. Clouds will decrease late, and we should reach the upper 40’s to near 50 today with light winds. We’ll have one more cold one tonight as clearing skies will help some air escape; lows in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s depending on if you’re in the City (warmer) or the surrounding areas (colder).

Sun returns tomorrow as light winds continue, highs in the low to mid 50’s. Then, clouds increase as the leading edge of warmer air begins to drift over us. Look for a slight chance of showers overnight tomorrow, but lows only dipping a few degrees and into the mid to upper 40’s. We remain mostly cloudy on Thursday with the slight chance of a shower or two, but much warmer; highs in the low 60’s, possibly a touch warmer if we can squeeze out a few extra breaks of sun.

On Friday, the real warm stuff moves in and we’ll see clouds and sun, highs 70-75 in the NYC area. I know it’s very exciting, but don’t be disappointed in the coastal areas as you’ll see the cold ocean influence keep things in the 50’s out on eastern Long Island; to upper 50’s and 60’s closer to NYC along the western south shores. Same thing for Saturday with maybe some more sunshine and possibly slightly warmer temps in spots. As of now though, we’ll stay conservative and call for 70-75, cooler along the shore and eastern Long Island.

Sunday, it all comes to a sudden end as our little ridge collapses and the front swings by. Look for a return to reality, with cloudy skies, chance of rain, and highs 55-60. More rain will be possible on Monday, with stubborn clouds and low 60’s.

In the long range, seasonably cool air returns for next week, and we’ll play the game again the weekend of the 21st to see if we can get any front-related warmth back up into the area.
