NYC CLOSE CALL MONDAY MARCH AVENGES MILD FEBRUARY

NYC CLOSE CALL MONDAY MARCH AVENGES MILD FEBRUARY – Good afternoon everyone. Our active pattern continues in conjunction with seasonably to slightly unseasonably cool air as March gets revenge for a mild February. After a brief reprieve from 2 Nor’easters, another low pressure tries to make a close approach.

For the rest of the day today, we’ll have sun and clouds, slight chance of a sprinkle or flurry. This is much like the weather we typically get when a large Nor’easter departs in January, with sun-enhanced, popcorn-like areas of moisture as dry air wrings out the atmosphere. Tomorrow, breezy westerlies continue, but it’ll be partly cloudy and highs in the mid 40’s. Mid 40’s continue Sunday, with full sun and lighter winds, making it feel warmer. However, we’re still in the seasonably cool realm.

For Monday, we watch for the close approach of low pressure that’s leaning towards scooting out to the south of us. We’ll have to watch closely to see if things trend back towards the northwest, or if we find ourselves on the northern edge the precip shield. While as of this very moment things don’t looks as bad as the previous two Nor’easters, we still may find some light snow and/or mix in the area as it scoots by. We’ll be on top of everything and either guide it out to say adios, or fill you in with any changes if they occur.

In the long range and aside from any possible front-related warmth, I don’t see any long term mild air as of now until possibly the end of the month. We are stuck in this rather cool pattern and will remain so for the next 10+ days (aside from a mild day here or there due to an approaching system). Wet and cool will be the main feature until things begin to settle down.
