NYC Clouds & Rain Hold Off Giving Mild Day Today
Good morning everyone. Clouds and rain heading into the NYC area have held off long enough to give patchy spots a sunnier and milder day than previously expected. That rain however, is still making it slowly your way, so expect the nice day to shut off soon. Regardless, we have a beautiful day tomorrow in much of the Northeast, plus a beautiful and mild to warm weekend. By Thursday, mid 80’s could grace the area, with maybe even some 85-90 degree temps for interior parts of the region before a cold front swings by.
In the Southeast, we are still dealing with heavy showers and thunderstorms, with flood watches still posted in the panhandle of Florida, parts of Alabama, and southwest areas of Georgia as a large mass of precip. slowly chugs to the east/southeast. Just like yesterday, we will watch this area strengthen along the southern and eastern edge of our already heavy showers and storms; likely approaching severe limits.
Areas such as southeast Georgia, possibly including the Charleston area of South Carolina, and central Florida, could be in line for a prolonged bout of severe weather. The biggest risk along with flash flooding, will be damaging straight-line winds; then secondary will be isolated large hail and the chance of an isolated tornado. We also watch this line thin out in nature and re-emerge tomorrow across central Florida with more severe thunderstorms.
Please stay tuned to your local agencies for the latest watches and warnings. Do not drive through standing water and/or fast moving water that may occur during flash flooding situations. Here is your local NYC Metro forecast –
