Seasonably Mild Temperatures Coming to NYC
Good morning everyone. The forecast in the Northeast continues to improve as time goes on as we’re able to get a clearer picture of when these slow moving systems with stubborn clouds depart. Our forecast degrades today a little bit as those stubborn clouds will be slow to leave, but the Sunday forecast improves and we have a really nice workweek for you up there.
Widespread severe weather last night along the Gulf coast begins to break apart, but not without one last gasp of severe storms across north and central Florida entering from the Gulf; and another small pocket in extreme southern Texas. Expect fast moving to storms to rip across central sections of the Florida peninsula before things begin to settle down. Our Texas storms will meander and create a headache with scattered severe weather for much of the day.
We also have heavy showers and thunderstorms across parts of Alabama and Mississippi, and we’ll watch that cluster grow a bit in size today as it heads into the Southeast. We could also see some severe weather embedded with this even though the biggest risk at this moment is flooding rain. Expect parts of Georgia and the Carolinas to get some action later today and into the overnight hours.
With any of these storms impacting the areas mentioned, look for isolated reports of large hail, frequent lightning, damaging winds, and the chance of an isolated tornado. Here is your local NYC Metro forecast –
SATELLITE
Look for morning clouds today, then some PM blue breaks. It’ll be much milder, but nothing extreme as we hang out in the low 70’s.
WEATHER RADAR
Tomorrow is the worst of the two for the weekend, with more clouds, the slight chance of showers, and high 65-70 depending on the cloud cover and precip. Sunday’s forecast continues to improve as a little bit of extra sun is expected. Look for a mix of sun & clouds and highs in the low 70’s.
Monday through Wednesday look spectacular, with full sunshine and lots of 70’s. Expect highs in the low to mid 70’s Monday, then mid to upper 70’s Tuesday, then 75-80 on Wednesday. We could see some low 80’s for Thursday, then the timing of our next cold front is suspect for Friday. Depending on what happens, we could see another warm day, or we slink back into the low 70’s.
