NYC CLOUDS SHOWERS SLIGHT SEVERE WEATHER RISK TODAY
NYC CLOUDS SHOWERS SLIGHT SEVERE WEATHER RISK TODAY – Good morning everyone. Clouds have moved in as promised with some energy well ahead of a weak cold front which will pass on by later today. This will essentially represent the end of a long-standing pattern and our entry into a new one for several weeks.
Look for some showers this morning and early afternoon, then a slight reprieve before we begin to keep an eye on the sky for any storms that may pop up. As I stated yesterday, the best chance to see storms will be concentrated upstate, but we’ll be watching for anything that emerges out of New Jersey. The biggest threat for our area IF we see any action, will be strong gusty winds. Areas upstate could get in on some hail action if things fire up good. Highs today will be 75-80 depending on how much sun we get.
Even though our cold front is rather weak due to a lack of big temp difference behind it, it’s still fueled by a big drop in the humidity. Tomorrow will be warmer because of the amount of sun, but humidity will be very low, as well as a gusty west wind visiting the area. Expect highs 80-85 for most of the area, but westerlies 15-20mph sustained and gusts to near 30mph are possible.
The long range is holding strong, and the prospect of 90 continues for early next week, with maybe another larger opportunity late month. You can click here to view yesterday’s long range outlook.
Stay tuned and we will be keeping an eye on any severe weather that may pop up.
