NYC Cold Air Remains But Mild Air On Schedule
Good morning everyone. Cold and blustery conditions remain as arctic air tries to hang on as long as it can. However, mild relief is on its way, and there’s nothing that Old Man Winter can do to stop it. At this point, Thursday looks to be the mildest of the bunch, and the only thing that can get in the way of temps will be potential cloud cover at this point.
SATELLITE
Sunny and breezy weather continues today, with highs in the mid to upper 30’s, and dry conditions sticking around. We’ll drop into the mid 20’s overnight, then go for upper 30’s to near 40 tomorrow.
F5 WEATHER RADARS
Temps modify slowly on Monday, and we remain on the chilly but near-average side. Expect highs in the mid to upper 40’s as that milder air begins its push.
Tuesday will be our breakout day with full sunshine, light winds, and mid to upper 50’s possible. I’m going to remain conservative this “far” out with the temps. I want to see the cloud and wind profile, so I’m going with mid to upper 50’s possible for Wednesday, but we could go a few degrees higher if things cooperate.
Thursday remains the big winner as of now, with 60-65 degree temps possible. If things work out right, don’t be surprised some spots hit 70 west of the City.
Friday continues to look iffy in my book, with clouds and some light rain possibly an issue. 55-60 is attainable early, with maybe some higher temps if there’s extra sunshine early and rain arrives late.
Overall, next week gives us a taste of what’s possible in the upcoming weeks, but unfortunately I don’t think we’re done with the cold weather yet. That being said, any discussion of potential snowstorms in the long range is absolute insanity. Yes it could still snow, but we’re coming up to the part of the season in which everything has to come together 100% perfectly for it to happen, and long range models are not to be trusted with anything. They are notorious in poorly handling systems and mild air in March and early April.
