NYC Cool Air Doesn’t Materialize But Intense Heat Breaks

Good morning everyone. We have a mixed forecast with mixed outcomes from the old long range, but the results are the same with intense heat breaking down. We do miss out on the rain and very cool conditions as summer holds on, with some better chances at below average temps over the next 2-3 weeks.

We start off today with some clouds and sun, especially if you look towards our south. Moisture will skirt across the Mid-Atlantic, missing our area, with late developing low pressure clipping extreme eastern Maine and Nova Scotia. However, that’ll help bring a light onshore flow into the area, cutting the heat, and giving is a semi-comfortable day in the low 80’s.

Low 80’s will continue tomorrow, which is actually seasonal/near-seasonal for our area this time of year.

WEATHER RADAR

Wednesday will be the only chance at some rain, and when I say rain, I mean MAYBE a sprinkle or two IF some extra clouds are able to sneak into the area. We’ll remain in the low 80’s under a light ESE to N flow.

Thursday warms up a bit as the maritime influence fades away, with sunshine and mid 80’s. Friday is looking very warm, with mid to upper 80’s, but nothing extreme compared to the last few weeks. Saturday is a very warm one as well with more upper 80’s, then we chop the legs off of very warm stuff as we sink back into the low 80’s with more clouds on Sunday.

Next week, we’ll be looking to see if a more pronounced easterly flow can hold on, as well as a few chances of rain. The models have been performing very poor lately, which is typical when we have a pattern transition taking grip. This is when the human factor becomes very important so that we can weed through the bullshit and see what’s going on.

So far I see a pattern brewing that is majority average to cooler than average, better chances for rain, with a few hot opportunities left. I do not think we are done with the hot air yet, but things definitely want to settle down in a big way. Hopefully with that, we see some relief from these drought conditions.
