NYC Gloom Begins Later Today
04/10/24 9:35am ET
Good morning everyone. We continue to watch severe weather march across the Gulf States and into the southern tier of the Central states. Tornado watches have shifted east into eastern Louisiana and big chunk of Mississippi and low pressure emerges out of Texas.
However, we could see another line develop behind it, pushing more severe weather this evening into northeast Texas, southeast Oklahoma, Arkansas, northern Louisiana, and into western Tennessee. This is a dangerous situation continues to unfold as our system slowly meanders eastward, then takes off into the Great Lakes region.
As it does, severe storms will move quickly into Alabama, the Panhandle of Florida, Georgia, and northwest South Carolina. As we do this, the risk of widespread and powerful tornadoes will diminish, replaced with isolated brief tornadoes and damaging straight-line winds. For now though, the tornado risk remains, and we will see watch boxes and warnings pop up as the day goes on.
We also continue to flash flood watches and we saw some flash flood warnings last night in parts of Texas and Louisiana. This is an evolving situation, so please watch your local radar and stay tuned for local broadcasting when severe weather is in the area. Be prepared to take shelter and life-saving precautions if a tornado warning is issued in your area.
Here’s your local NYC forecast where will go into the timing of rain and gloom up there –
SATELLITE
NYC is benefitting for a temporary break in the clouds, and areas of the City and Long Island are seeing some sunshine this morning. That’ll spare us from the overtly raw conditions, but clouds and showers eventually do make their way towards us. We’re already seeing showers upstate, and they will slowly drift our way via Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic. Highs today near 60.
WEATHER RADAR
Look for on and off rain tonight into tomorrow, then heavier rain and increasing wind building as we go on into the evening hours. Highs in the mid 60’s tomorrow. Look for rain, heavy at times, with gusty winds and some rumbles overnight tomorrow.

Your weekend continues to look like a split decision, with blustery and cool conditions Saturday in the 50’s; then lighter winds on Sunday with mid to upper 60’s and sunshine.
