NYC Gorgeous Day Gives Way to Gloomy Three Days
04/09/24 10:47am ET
Good morning everyone. We have a perfect day unfolding in the NYC Metro area as our next system is gathering up in the Southwest corner of the landscape. Sunshine, high clouds, and 70’s bless the area before gloom and 50’s/60’s return to the area for a 3 day visit in the Northeast.
Meanwhile, that gathering system is really causing some big problems across parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama; where heavy rain and storms continue to slowly move over the same areas. The good news is that things will finally begin to move as low pressure emerges from New Mexico/West Texas. The bad news as that the movement will cause another round of lift and convection across Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana later today.
While we have no severe weather watches (aside from flood watches) as this article is being typed, expect watches to pop up as the afternoon and evening wears on. Look for severe storms to blossom across areas such as Lubbock and Amarillo, Texas. This line and area of conviction will chug east and bring severe storms into parts of Oklahoma and eastern Texas, including the Dallas/Ft Worth area. This entire episode will play out today through later tomorrow as everything slides into the rest of the Gulf States, Central States, and the Southeast.
Aside from flooding, we’ll watch again for tornadic activity, large hail, damaging winds, and frequent lightning. Please watch the radar and listen to local broadcasts as severe weather pops up, especially in the overnight hours, which makes things that more dangerous. Some isolated tornadoes in this round of storms could be on the larger side compared to what we’ve seen, so please be on alert and be prepared to take life-saving action.
Here is your local NYC Metro forecast –
