NYC Good Snow Cleanup Weather Today Tomorrow & Watching Late Weekend

Good late morning everyone. Hopefully everyone is getting back on their feet from the 12-30″+ of snow we got (depending on where you live). Today will be a good day to start really cleaning up, and tomorrow will even be better with more sunshine and near 40 temps. We’re watching one system approaching for Friday, then another that may affect us late weekend into Monday.

For today, expect sun and clouds, some scattered flurries about, and highs in the mid 30’s. That should help melt the snow a little bit, but tomorrow is ideal.

F5 WEATHER RADARS

We’ll have more sunshine tomorrow, lighter winds, and highs in the near 40/low 40 range. Clouds will increase late on Thursday night with the approach of our next system, and lows should hover around the upper 20’s to low 30’s.

On Friday, we’ll be in the “warm” sector of this system as low pressure passes well west and north of the area. However, some of the onset precip may start as a wintry mix before changing to all rain. The later the start, the better, as that will reduce the hazard for any icing. Just keep in mind though that your morning commute may be a little dicey if the precip starts before sunrise and you’re out there. We’ll keep an eye on the radar for that, but little to no accumulation is expected aside from a slushy dusting/coating at best.

Saturday the sun returns and we go for mid 30’s, then we play the increasing clouds game again. As of this very moment, both the GFS and EURO are in agreement that low pressure scoots off the coast rapidly and well south of us, but we have to watch for any changes or Northern fringe precip. The tail end of our system passing through on Friday, is expected to form a wave by the Gulf, then head ENE. Meanwhile, a small clipper-like system is heading out of Canada to reinforce our cold air. It’ll be a race to the Northeast to see who wins, and if our clipper lags behind a little bit, that may draw the southern system closer where some phasing may occur.

Realistically, the best picture or hint we’ll get is when that first system arrives on Friday.
