NYC Heavy Snow Expected Through This Afternoon & Into Evening
Good snowy morning everyone. We had an interested night as heavy snows moved in earlier than expected a few days ago. That’ll help add to our totals when this is all said and done, and why we went with higher numbers yesterday morning for the final call. As of now, mixing hasn’t happened yet along parts of Long Island, so that’ll help give some of these areas the higher end of the spectrum in the snow forecast, or that “+” I put in.

The peak of our system is starting to gather now, and we should see snow, heavy at times, throughout the entire day. This will quickly boost our accumulation numbers, and there will also be a lot of blowing and drifting of snow. Look for wind gusts to 45-50mph along the immediate shore, and overall breezy/gusty conditions inland.
Snow, heavy at times, goes into this evening, then begins to taper off to light snow. There could be some additional accumulations, but they’ll be light compared to what will fall during the day.
Scattered light snow sticks around tomorrow, and again, very light accumulations in the realm of a dusting to an inch. Highs tomorrow near 30 and breezy, making cleanup not so much fun.
Overall totals remain the same in my book, with 12-18″+ for the NYC area, on the higher end of that original 6-12″+ inch forecast for Long Island, with a lot of “+”‘s around, and on the high of that 4-8″+ for Eastern Suffolk with the lack of mixing as of now.
