NYC GRAND BUFFET WEATHERWISE
NYC GRAND BUFFET WEATHERWISE – Good afternoon folks and welcome to Angry Ben’s Weather Buffet! Today’s special is…EVERYTHING. Clouds are on the increase as we speak due to the arrival of a warm front tomorrow. Temps have maxed out in low 50’s this afternoon and we’ll have cloudy skies tonight with lows in the low 40’s. There will be a chance of some light rain tomorrow with the arrival and passage of this front and we may reach 60 if we’re able to get a little sunshine into the mix. Light rain and fog will be with us for much of the night overnight Tuesday as temps will only drop a few degrees.
Much like this past Saturday, how fast the fog clears out on Wednesday will determine on how high we go as far as temps, but the potential is there for some records to fall, especially west of the NYC area. If we see the sun at all, expect temps in the NYC area between 70-75 and low to mid 60’s at coastal areas such as Coney Island and Rockaway Beach. A cold front will approach the area Wednesday afternoon/evening and give us the chance of some strong thunderstorms.
Again much like Saturday, how strong this line is, will determine if they can make it to the coast. There is a chance that some of these storms will reach severe limits to our west, but they may weaken significantly again as they make their final approach. Also, this front will be more stretched out and with energy going well to our north, the line may be more narrow and short-lasting compared to Saturday. We will keep an eye on this situation as it unfolds.
On Thursday, temps slowly decline as the front moves well to our east, bringing sunny skies and highs near 50. Clouds will increase Thursday night into Friday with a quick moving wave of low pressure moving in. Timing and how vigorous this wave becomes, will determine whether we see some light rain, light snow, or a mix. As of now, highs will be in the upper 30’s on Friday and into the 20’s at night; so anything that does fall whether it is rain or snow, can cause a dangerous situation Friday night into Saturday morning with the prospect of black ice on the roads.
This active pattern continues of above and below normal temps throughout early to mid March. We will update as things become clearer.
