NYC HEAT PRECEDES DRAMATIC COOLDOWN – Good morning everyone. For those up early this morning, we have a beautiful sunrise unfolding and temps are already in the low to mid 70’s. The mild start will help us springboard in the 90-95° realm for today, 80’s at the coast.
It’ll be the same story tomorrow, but with the approach of a backdoor cold front, we could see a few showers and storms touch off. We’re not looking at any big severe weather outbreak due to the generally weak dynamics of your typical back-door front, but a few areas could see a hefty storm or heavy, gusty shower.
After this front passes, we’ll have winds switch around to that cool, familiar northeast direction. Sun and clouds will be the theme for Wednesday through Friday, with temps falling into the upper 70’s for Wednesday, then barely making 70 on Thursday; a big departure from the 90-95° temps we’ll experience today and tomorrow.
On Friday, temps will remain cool at near 70, then we’ll see highs rebound a bit near 80 on Saturday. Both days we’ll have clouds and sun, chance of a shower or thunderstorm. For Father’s Day, as of now we’re looking at 80-85° and the same sun and clouds, chance of a shower or storm. If you have plans, keep them unless anything big changes, because I don’t see any rainouts Friday through Sunday.
