NYC HEAT WAVE PROGRESSES BUT RELIEF SEVEN DAYS AWAY
NYC HEAT WAVE PROGRESSES BUT RELIEF SEVEN DAYS AWAY – Good morning everyone! 90’s, 90’s, 90’s, will be the theme for the next few days before we slip back into the upper 80’s with even higher humidity for the weekend. For those who love this weather, enjoy! For those who hate it, relief is on the way, but you’ll have to be patient. Here is the link to yesterday’s long range forecast, and it holds up very well. As I said yesterday, the models were a little funky and some of it was a little far fetched, but we have a better idea of what is going to go down and how long.
STRONG COLD FRONT SWOOPS DOWN TUESDAY
After a hot and humid week, weekend, and start to the week, a strong cold front will begin to transit the area sometime during Tuesday. Because it’s too far down the road, we don’t have the exact timing down yet. This could translate into one more hot, humid, day for Tuesday with afternoon/evening storms, or we could have a midday cool-off where our temps remain steady/seasonable throughout the day. Also, we’ll have to wait and see if there is a widespread severe weather outbreak or not. Two things will be key: 1. Timing of transit 2. Whether low pressure goes north and “robs” the front crossing our area of some/most its energy.
Either way, a cool down is expected Wednesday as well as a drop in humidity. As of now, we’re not looking at any extreme cool air as the models were depicting, but we should have a return to seasonable temps that could be 0-3 degrees below average. With low humidity and a good breeze, seasonable temps might actually feel chilly to some, especially at night. That being said, things continue to move fast front-wise and this cool down is expected to be short lived. As of now, it looks as if hot and humid air will return by the weekend of the 29th, and possibly start us off with an above average August temperature-wise.
For the Marine Forecast, always keep an eye to the sky and an ear to NOAA radio for any storms that could pop up at any time, but the bays are looking good all week for mulling around. For any ocean going, tomorrow will be the best day of the week with light westerly winds. Every other day, you’re looking at the staple 2-3ft summertime chop/roll. Sunday could be the nastiest day water-wise with winds increasing as this energy starts to get closer, seas building to 3-5ft.
Stay tuned as we tweak the forecast to reflect the timing of this cold front next week, as well as any prospects of severe weather.

NYC HEAT WAVE PROGRESSES BUT RELIEF SEVEN DAYS AWAY – Signature heat wave but a weird way of going about it. Fronts continue to move fast, but high pressure in an unorthodox location is allowing for some prolonged heat before relief comes temporarily.
Northeast Radar
Quiet radar for now, but we could see some storms pop up, especially north and west of the New York City area. We’ll have to wait till Sunday and possibility Tuesday for some more widespread action.
