NYC PIZZA OVEN HOT TODAY TOMORROW
NYC PIZZA OVEN HOT TODAY TOMORROW – Good morning everyone. There are three kinds of hot in my book. We have Florida hot, Death Valley hot, and then there’s Pizza Oven hot. Pizza oven hot is a special blend between just enough humidity to make it uncomfortable (but not everything soaking wet), and just enough heat to take your breathe away, but not peel paint off of your car.
Today we have heat advisories and air quality alerts in effect. We’ll have sunny skies with the slight chance of a thunderstorm, highs in the low to mid 90’s. Tomorrow will be similar, but with gusty NW winds and sinking air, things will get off to even a hotter start, but finish the same with highs in the low to mid 90’s. Be sure to hydrate yourself if you’re outside, even if you enjoy the heat. For those who are sensitive to it and the poor air quality, stay indoors if you can and limit activity.
As energy begins to transit the area to give us our eventual brief break in this heat and humidity, temps will drop somewhat on Saturday and Sunday. However, we’ll still be above average with high humidity. On Saturday, southwest winds will help pump in humid air as we go into the mid to upper 80’s. The sun working the atmosphere could help touch off a few scattered storms in the afternoon. For Sunday, things get juicier as we could see the threat of showers and storms at any point of the day; highs in the mid 80’s and humid, upper 80’s if we see more sun than clouds.
On Monday, it look as if that cold front arrives earlier than the previously forecasted Saturday. This translates into the chance of some showers and storms on Monday, with highs in the mid 80’s and humid; again, upper 80’s if we squeeze out some extra sun. Drier and cooler air moves in for Tuesday with highs in the low 80’s and breezy, but this break may be very brief, lasting only 1-3 days.
As we watch for the heat returning for our trek into early August, the potential is there that we may see our first approach near 100 in the first week of August. Stay tuned and we will update on how long the break in the heat will last, plus what the future holds for us as far as hot and humid weather returning.
