TWO MORE HOT NEW YORK CITY DAYS – Good morning everyone. Yesterday was a hot and humid one, and today will be a different kind of hot. A dry, searing kind of hot that will suck the air out of your lungs for those who are sensitive to this type of weather. For that reason, heat advisories continue with sunny skies, a hot westerly breeze, and highs in the mid 90’s for the New York City area.
Tomorrow, we dial down the heat a notch, but since we’ll have more sun than clouds, expect a hot humid day with highs in the upper 80’s to low 90’s. On Sunday, the ridge starts to sink down to allow the boundaries in air masses to sit over us. What this means for us will be a very warm, muggy, cloudy day, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms at any time. Depending on where these waves of energy transit, we could see some localized flooding in poor drainage areas if they travel over our area continuously in 2-4 hr on and off periods.
The chance of storms will continue for Monday as the frontal boundary will make its final push. It’ll be warm and muggy again with highs in the mid 80’s, possibly upper 80’s if we see some extra sun. Then relief is here in the form of upper 70’s to low 80’s for Tuesday through Thursday. After that, we might be able to squeeze out one more day of comfortable weather Friday before the heat and humidity return, but we’ll have to wait and see if that happens. Either way, the signs continue to be there for heat and humidity returning for our transition into early August.
