NYC Intermittent Rain And Rumbles
Good morning everyone. Clouds are here already as tropical moisture begins entering the picture. That’ll be it for the sun till possibly late tomorrow, then the forecast gets complicated again halfway through the weekend.
SATELLITE
Look for a cloudy and cool day. A washout it won’t be, but look for waves of moisture heading in and out, with a pop up, brief heavy shower at anytime in between. In spots with heavier convection, a rumble of thunder and breezy conditions are possible, but nothing severe is expected. High’s today will be in the upper 60’s to low 70’s with a maritime fetch.
Overnight, those waves of moisture and scattered showers/rumbles of thunder will continue. I think we see a shot of steadier rain before or just after sunrise, then we actually begin to salvage tomorrow slowly.
That chance of steadier rain subsides some time between 7-9am, then there might be a leftover scattered shower until 11am-12pm; then partial clearing will ensue. With everything clearing out, we could see some upper 70’s to near 80 depending on the sunshine factor.
REGIONAL RADAR
As stated on Saturday, I think we get a sunny and dry break on Wednesday and I still think that’s holding. It should be a pleasant day in the 75-80 range, but then clouds increase late with our next system.
Just before sunrise Thursday, we should get into some shower and rumble action, which will last on and off throughout the day. Thursday itself will be the best chance to see a period of steadier/heavier rain, then back to the on and off stuff into the evening.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
As we get to Friday, we clear out once again and we could make it two in a row for a nice day on Saturday as well. Expect 75-80 degree temps both days, then increasing clouds late Saturday with thing possibly getting complicated for Sunday.
Backdoor fronts won’t be an issue, but an active pattern continues with small low pressure systems skirting the northern part of the Country/lower Canada. This will keep a procession of systems racing across from the Pacific to the Northeast. It all comes down to timing, but we could see a period rain either mid Sunday or early Monday.
We’ll keep an eye on it all and watch for the changes.
