NYC Leftover Showers Rumbles Today Plus Long Range Forecast

Good morning everyone. We’re in the gloom for the next few days as low pressure meanders about the region, then we will break out in sunshine by Thursday. An important system will be trekking the area by late week, and that may shut down any opportunities for some milder air till some time during the 2/3rd of November.

For today, clouds stick around with on and off scattered showers. Some of those showers may be heavier in spots, with also a few rumbles of thunder here and there. For those who caught my live broadcast last night, we discussed this prospect, especially for Central and Eastern Long Island; which seems to be playing out as expected. Highs today will be near 60, and temps overnight remain steady as milder air moves in.

It may be milder and more humid tomorrow, but clouds and scattered showers stick around. Look for highs in the 65-70 degree range.

WEATHER RADAR

We keep the mild air in the mix for Wednesday, but clouds and widely scattered showers remain in the forecast. We’ll have humid 65-70 degree temps, then sunshine, breezy, and mild conditions Thursday as our cold front approaches with highs near 70.

Timing is holding fairly strong on that cold front, and we should cool off on Friday as we drop through the 60’s. Lows overnight will sink back into the 40’s, and it looks like we’ll be in this cooler pattern for at least 7-10 days.

In the long range, things look active, then a bit of a slowdown possibly for the 2/3rd of November. We’ll have to see first how strong our cold front is for Friday, then see if it gets hung up along the coast. If so, we could see a few waves of low pressure running up along it; giving us more rain, or keeping the rain just offshore (but locking the cool/chilly air in). If this happens, expect no milder breaks until some time between November 9th and 12th, where high pressure may dominate most of the Country east of the Rockies for a decent stretch.

We’ll watch it closely to see if this scenario comes to fruition.
