NYC Light Rain Changeover To Light Snow Tomorrow
Good morning everyone. Our arctic front is on the move, and once again we hit the nail on the head as far as timing of cold air with the long range outlook. Several weeks ago, we mentioned arctic air finally spilling over into the Nation and into the Northeast, then the apex coming after the 3rd week of January. We are in the dead of winter folks, big storm or no big storm, this will be the coldest air of the season over the next few weeks.
SATELLITE
Aside from the wind today, we have a fairly comfortable day temp-wise. We had some AM sunshine, and now the clouds are on the move with that arctic front. We’ll have highs in the mid 40’s today, with winds gusting 20-30mph.
WEATHER RADAR
Light rain moves in overnight tonight and it’ll being to mix with sleet and snow around or after sunrise. Any mix will change to all snow by late morning/early afternoon, but it’ll take a little time to stick. Look for a coating to 2″ out of this, mostly on colder surfaces such as grass, trees, cars, and walkways. Highs tomorrow will be in the low to mid 30’s, but drop into the 20’s before sunset.
It’ll be bitter cold on Friday with sunshine, a stiff NW flow, and highs in the upper teens to low 20’s. Overnight we dip into the low to mid teens.
For your weekend, we have clouds and sun on Saturday with the slight chance of some flurries. It’ll be cold and breezy with highs in the mid to upper 20’s. Sunday we modify a bit and into the low to mid 30’s, but frigid air will be on the move again early next week.
