NYC Long Range Outlook

Good morning everyone. Frigid cold air has settled into the area, and we remain cold for the most part. “Most part” is the key word as we have a few opportunities for some milder days, but the pattern overall continues to support the inundation of arctic air into the region and much of the Lower 48 as a whole.

That being said, the reason why we have a few mild opportunities, is because the pattern will not be very snow-friendly system-wise. After we get through this cold blast and temperatures begin to modify, look for our system to make a more western and northern track. This equates to mild air ahead of our systems with rain, then turning very cold again behind each system.

Look for a milder opportunity towards the closeout of January, then another in the first or early-second week of February. However, they will be brief in nature and expect temps to sink back into the 20’s and 30’s.

Today and tomorrow air downright frigid, with temperatures stuck in the 15-20 range. Lows overnight will be in the single digits to low teens.

WEATHER RADAR

Things “modify” back into the 25-30 range on Thursday, then near 30 degree temps for Friday.

Saturday and Sunday look like our first chance to crack the freezing mark, but we remain cold.
