NYC Memorial Day Weekend First Call
Good morning everyone. Our complicated forecast continues as we make tweaks to the forecast with every nuanced shift. Plus, we have a Memorial Day Weekend forecast that I think you’ll find acceptable. Beach weather? Ehhhhh, not the best, but good barbecue and gathering weather.

Our first of a few minor adjustments to the forecast is sunshine. Clouds have avoided much of the area except for the immediate north shore of Long Island and parts of Connecticut. That’ll help warm things up slightly, and even areas that remain cooler, higher dew points will help you feel warmer than it is. Expect sunshine and near 80 temps today for the NYC area, 75-80 for parts of Long Island, and mid 60’s along the immediate shore.
Tomorrow we tweak those temps again as clouds remain at bay, we add some extra sunshine, increase the humidity, and allow for a friendlier wind profile. We’ll do mid to upper 80’s for the NYC area, low to mid 80’s for Long Island, and 70’s along the immediate shore.
Sunday goes hot with perfect conditions to do so. Look for clouds and sun, a little more humid, and highs in the upper 80’s to low 90’s. Expect 85-90 across Long Island, and 75-80 at the shore.
To start next week, a backdoor front will once again cool the area off. This time it’ll reach across the NYC area and not just Long Island. Expect 70-75 degree temps in NYC for Monday, and upper 60’s to near 70 for Long Island. On Tuesday, humidity starts creeping up again with warmer air making a push for Wednesday. 75-80 will be on the menu for Tuesday, then we may do 90’s again for Wednesday.
Looking into Memorial Day weekend, I think we remain mostly dry and a general mid 70’s to low 80’s Friday through Monday under clouds and sun. The only caveat is a tropical/post-tropical system that is well off the coast and looking to drift west. While there won’t be any direct impacts, we could increase the surf, the rip current risk, and minor coastal flooding this Thursday through the following Tuesday.
