NYC Toasty Time With Milky Skies
Good late morning everyone. We have a very warm/hot weekend, then some dips and rises throughout next week. Long Island is the most complicated part of this forecast, with a wide range range of temps even though a warm airmass is settled over us.
SATELLITE
For today, expect highs clouds and milky sunshine. We could see a few blue patches here and there, but overall the clouds will dominate. However, it won’t stop the temps from nearing 90 in NYC today, and a few spots may even break 90 if some extra sun breaks out. Look for mid to upper 80’s across Long Island today, but low to mid 70’s across immediate south facing shores and the shores of the Forks. We’ll also have the very very slight chance of a thunderstorm, and it even pains me to put it in the forecast because the chance is so small. My personal opinion is that nothing really happens.
The sun becomes more dominant tomorrow, and we’ll see 90-95 temps for the NYC area. Upper 80’s to low 90’s will grace most of Long Island, with the immediate south facing shores in the upper 70’s to low 80’s.
We cool down big-time on Monday with a backdoor cold front coming through, and we’ll have clouds and sun with upper 60’s to low 70’s. Low 60’s will be common along the Long Island coastal sections. Tuesday we make a comeback, but clouds creep in as the warm airmass fights back. Expect 75-80 degree temps, with upper 60’s to low 70’s across Long Island.
Wednesday and Thursday we go very warm to hot again, with low 90’s and sunshine possible Wednesday, then upper 80’s to near 90 likely Thursday.
To start your Memorial Day Weekend, the initial forecast is holding steady with a cool-down expected. We’ll start off with Friday, then hold off for the rest of the weekend for now. Look for clouds and sun, 75-80 degree temps for a seasonable day.
