NYC Quick Exchange From Hot To Cool

Good morning everyone. We have another hot one ahead of us today, but things are going to change very quickly overnight tonight and for tomorrow. Overall we have a nice week ahead, and our Memorial Day Weekend is trending cooler than originally expected, but with the same amount of clouds.

For Today, look for early AM Clouds, then sunshine breaking out as we go on. Highs should be in the 90-95 realm, with upper 80’s to low 90’s across Long Island, and upper 70’s to low 80’s across the South Shore/East End. A backdoor cold front will drop down across the area, touching off some scattered strong storms. However, most of the energy will go to our west and east, and it’ll be hard to get something going here. Temps will drop tonight from the 90’s to the upper 50’s, giving the overnight hours a chilly (but seasonably average) feel.

That cool air stays with us tomorrow under clouds and sun and a cool breeze. Expect highs near 70, with 60’s across Long Island. We modify a bit on Tuesday, with more clouds & sun and highs in the mid 70’s.

Hot air returns on Wednesday under full sunshine, and I’m going to put up another 90-95 degree day. Cooler air begins its trek towards the area, but not before we have a comfortably warm day on Thursday in the mid 80’s.

Memorial Day Weekend remains questionable as cooler air and an easterly flow return. We had already called for clouds and sun, but the 75-80 degree temps don’t look very promising. This will all depend on how close a daisy-chain of moisture and thicker clouds get to our area. For now, we’ll throw in the slight chance of a shower each day, with highs near 70. Things could change for the better and squeeze out some 75 degree temps IF the moisture stays away, but it’s trending on the cool side for now.
