NYC Monday Cold Rain Quiet Otherwise

Good morning everyone. We have a nice but cold Sunday today, then a weak system heads through tomorrow. Aside from that, we have nothing going on for the next 5-7 days, and we should get some decent snow-melting going on.

Today is a simple one, with clear skies, bright sunshine, and temps on the cold side. Look for highs in the low to mid 30’s, with less wind than yesterday. You’ll see some minor snow-melt going on, but most of it hold off till midweek.

Tomorrow is a more complicated than today. Not really for the NYC area, but possibly N&W of it as a weak cold front swing through. For NYC, we’ll cloud up tonight, then see some rain move in between 10am and 1pm. Rain may start out as a brief mix, but this will generally be a rain event for NYC and Long Island, and it’ll be a cold rain as temps hover in the upper 30’s to near 40. Whatever rain does move in, it’ll be gone between 6-8pm and we begin to dry out.

For N&W of NYC, enough cold air may be trapped to give a round of snow in NW NJ, NE PA, upstate NY, and areas of the Catskills. This is still not a strong system, and for areas that do see some snow, expect a coating to 2″ possible.

That system is long gone by Tuesday and sunshine returns. Westerlies will help boost us into the low 40’s  on Tuesday, then we’ll go for mid to upper 40’s both Wednesday and Thursday.

Colder air heads back in on Friday, and we’ll struggle in the mid to upper 30’s as sunshine continues.
