NYC NEAR AVERAGE TEMPS RETURN WITH GLOOM

Good morning. Today if you’re waking up early, we have a yellow orb in the sky emitting some warmth. Do not be alarmed, this is called “the sun”. Once in while in a NYC spring, the sun does pay a visit once in a while. However, this visit will be brief, so enjoy the day.

EASTERN SATELLITE

This sunny period will be rather brief as clouds enter the picture again later in the day. We’ll be comfortable but cool with highs in the upper 50’s. We’ll have a decent shot at some rain between 10pm and 6am, then the action becomes widely scattered and lighter in nature.

Look for a cloudy day tomorrow, with the chance of a shower at any point in the day, especially till late morning/early afternoon. We may see a few rays of sunshine, but bank on the clouds to be with us for most of the day. During this process, we’ll creep back towards average with highs in the mid 60’s, possibly upper 60’s if we see some extra rays.

Midweek looks pretty much like the same story, but we could find ourselves on the wrong side of the front on Wednesday. If this happens, look for a replay of yesterday with cloudy skies, widely scattered raindrops and very cool temps.

We’re going to take this period day by day since stationary fronts that drift north and south and can be very tricky for us and it’s easy to blow a forecast with a surprise cool or even a surprise warm day; so lets get us to tomorrow, and then we’ll hone in on Wednesday.

The long range is actually easier than the short range at this moment. Even though we’ve hit a pothole temp-wise the last few days, our steady climb into mid-spring continues. We remain active over the course of the next couple of weeks, but it’s possible we return to the more northerly and westerly route of our systems. This would equate to a couple of extra days of dry conditions and milder conditions in between raindrops.

It also means we could bang out a few above average days in the 2nd week of May if everything cooperates. Lets see where it all goes and get past this gloomy week, but enjoy the sun today first.
