NYC RAIN DEPARTS TODAY WITH MILD CLOSE CALL THURSDAY
Good morning everyone. The ups and downs of this gloomy NYC week continue, with bright sunshine yesterday, gloom this morning, a taste of fall tomorrow, a very close call Thursday with mild air just miles to our west, and another maritime pushback on Friday.
EASTERN SATELLITE
The tough forecast remain, with a stationary front snaking along the area; trying to come back as a warm front, then sinking south as a cold front. For today, we get the rain out of here early, and we may even have a few peeks of sun. The more sun we get, the higher we go, but for now I’m sticking with mid 60’s. A little bit of extra sun and we could go for 70’ish type temps.
For tomorrow, the maritime air pushes back in a big way, with cloudy skies, raw conditions, and dropping back into the 50’s. Add a few showers into the mix, and it’ll round off that November feel to the air.
REGIONAL RADAR
Thursday gets interesting to say the least. It’ll either be biggest tease so far this season, or we could get into some surprise mild air. As of now, warm air will hit the brakes just miles to our west. In some cases, such as Staten Island, mid to upper 70’s and puffy clouds could be just 5-10 miles to your west as you’re stuck with east winds, scattered showers, fog, and 60’s.
I’m keeping things conservative with mid 60’s for most of the area, but theres a slight chance things advance eastward; giving parts of the NYC area a taste of mid to late May. For those out on Long Island, forget it, you’re lost, especially out at the Forks. November remains locked in.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
Whatever happens in the NYC on Thursday, maritime air pushes back harder on Friday. Expect more scattered rain, cloudy skies, and raw conditions. I honestly don’t think we get this thing out of here till Monday, and even Monday may wind up being questionable. Aside from tomorrow though, the rest of the week and weekend look at least near-average temp-wise, even with the gloom. Just prepare for a batch of showers at any given time and we will pinpoint the timing day-to-day.
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
If, and that’s a big IF, we can clear things out on Monday, 70’s or at least near-70 temps may return if the next system cooperates. Typically, these types of “setbacks” occur pattern-wise in mid to late May, so maybe we’re getting it out of the way a couple of weeks early? Let’s see.
