NYC No’Easter Brings Winter’s Fat Lady To Stage

Good morning everyone. Our coastal system expected late weekend is kinda sorta panning out, but it won’t be in the form snow lovers would want. During a “normal” winter, a system brushing us and heading out to sea would almost surely amount to a light snow event. However, this time around we don’t have cold enough air around to support it. Check out the latest below.

For today, our system that’ll help spin off our late weekend Carolina storm, will bring cloudy skies and the slight chance of some light rain. Best chance will be overnight, but a few showers could graze the areas as most of the moisture goes to our north. Highs today will be in the upper 40’s to low 50’s.

Temps actually rise slightly tonight, then will have increasing sunshine tomorrow with highs 50-55.

WEATHER RADAR

Sunshine remains for Saturday with low to mid 40’s, then clouds will begin to increase on Sunday with more low to mid 40’s. Those clouds will coincide with today’s system stalling out over the Gulf and Southeast, then a wave forming as it scoots off the Carolina’s & Mid Atlantic. We’ll have the slight chance of some light rain showers late Sunday, then a chance of some scattered light mixed precip overnight. The best chance to see some mixing, will be if the precipitation is more on the moderate side. That’ll help will some cooling of the atmosphere and draw some colder air down. Regardless, expect no accumulation as lows only dip into the low to mid 30’s.

We’ll see some morning clouds Monday with a slight chance of some light rain, then some blue breaks later in the day. Highs Monday will be near 50.

In the long range I have nothing. We were hoping that the deeper diving systems out west would help knock the jet stream a bit to our east, but all it’s really doing is making a sharper turn into the Ohio Valley/Great Lakes region. This equates to warmer solutions for us every time, or coastal systems that scoot well to our south and/or develop late and well offshore.

At this point, unless we get a March Monster or April Surprise, this winter is cooked snow-wise.
