NYC NOREASTER AFTERNOON UPDATE – Good late morning everyone, this is your afternoon update. Everything remains on track and on schedule, but questions remain about what south facing shores of the NYC Metro Area and eastern Long Island see as far as snow.
The latest NAM model is starting to lean in agreement with the GFS, which creates a slightly warmer solution for Long Island and possibly the south shore of Queens. A low tucked in so close, and 1-2 degrees can make a huge difference in March, as we need perfect ingredients for a snowstorm in this area for this time of year.

Snow Forecast Map Remains Untouched
As of this moment, the snow map remains untouched and confidence is low to moderate in certain areas, high in others. This is because my concerns remain the same for Long Island and parts of New York City. As stated earlier, the chance for a bust is possible in either direction forecast-wise. We could get much less, especially on Long Island…or we can bring that 8-14″ down further south.
To make things even more interesting, we can be looking bleak snow total-wise, then an area of thundersnow (if it should develop) could make up the difference very fast in areas. So we have our hands full with a complicated forecast, and either way, this is going to be very interesting.
