NYC NOREASTER SNOW ARRIVES

NYC NOREASTER SNOW ARRIVES – Good morning everyone. If you haven’t been living under a rock, you’ll have known that we were expecting another Nor’easter and snow for the NYC area; and if you haven’t looked outside yet, that snow is here.

Snow, moderate to heavy at times is falling throughout the area, and just as expected, we started off as some rain first and we have some issues with sticking/accumulation. Snow is sticking on the grass and colder surfaces, such as cars and tree limbs, but even so, begins to melt when the intensity lightens up. this will make it very difficult to measure in areas that don’t see the most intense snow.

Original Snow Map

Even so, the snow map remains unchanged. I think as you go east, you’ll visually be able to see a decent accumulation as the intensity ramps up and things will be covered more easily. As far as our area, well, enough is falling from the sky to achieve our number, but it’s going to be hard to achieve it or at least measure it.

Such is March and I explained some of these issues as we followed our Nor’easter. Our heaviest snow comes to an end between noon and early afternoon, replaced with light snow, flurries, and light mix. Highs will be in the upper 30’s today, so anything that does fall, will melt rather quickly.

Tomorrow, we’ll have sun and clouds, windy, and the chance of some popcorn-like flurries and light showers, highs near 40. The wind will slowly subside on Thursday, sun and clouds again, but dry and highs in the low to mid 40’s. Friday and Saturday, we’re sunny and seasonably cool, highs again in the low to mid 40’s. Sunday is looking like the best day of the weekend, with highs near 50 and sunny skies.

After that, we begin to watch our next parade of systems, with the first one in the batter’s box around Tuesday. While the internet is already buzzing about it, I’m going to take a step back, let things settle down, and enjoy the quiet before we discuss up the “end of the world”…again.

Have a great day and be safe.
