NYC Pattern Change Requires Tropical Update

NYC Pattern Change Requires Tropical Update

Good morning everyone. I’ll start off by saying that we have nothing going on in the tropics as far as active systems or even any disturbed areas that bear watching. However, we discussed in the long range a couple of days ago that one of the caveats of more comfortable weather, would be an increased chance for tropical activity focusing on the Southeast and Gulf. Check out the latest on our tropics and the local forecast below.

For today, look for a mix of sun, clouds, and a little bit of haze. We remain comfortable warm, but also increase the humidity a little bit. Expect highs a nice low 80’s for a perfect late week summer day.

Clouds increase overnight and we’ll have the chance of on and off showers and storms by sunrise tomorrow. The chance will increase as time goes on, but this is not going to be an all day soaker. Activity will remain on and off, with embedded rumbles of thunder. Highs a humid low 80’s.

WEATHER RADAR

Your weekend is looking fantastic, with sunshine each day and highs in the low to mid 80’s each day. Humidity might creep up a bit on Sunday, but we remain in the seasonably warm realm with nothing extreme going on.

In the tropics, we will watch that Bermuda high get compressed and elongated a bit as our systems begin to bring some cooler (but still seasonable) air in the the Northeast. This will help act as a funnel in regards to directing tropical moisture into the Southeast and possibly into the Gulf. Again, we have no active systems at this time, but we will be watching closely any plumes of moisture in the Caribbean that may act as a “nebula” for development. At minimum, expect some monsoon action, especially in the Bahamas, Cuba, S. Florida, and maybe even along the Gulf Coast.
