NYC Pattern Change Takes Effect With Little Fanfare
Good afternoon everyone. Our cooler air is heading in and that will be the “big story” over the next couple of days, but we also have other things going on overall. The tropical activity has come to a standstill, and I also think we’re not done with the mild air yet even though we are cooler this week.
SATELLITE
We are cloudy and relatively humid today as showers move well north and east of us. We could see another round of showers as another spoke of energy cuts through around a broader area of low pressure in the Great Lakes. Most likely if that happens, it’ll be this evening and overnight. Highs today will be in the mid 60’s, then we begin our cool-off tomorrow.
Look for partial clearing tomorrow and steady light westerlies developing. That’ll help dry us out and get some blue patches in here, but the best we will do is mid to upper 50’s tomorrow as highs. Expect lows overnight to be in the low 40’s, with 35-40 degree temps N&W of NYC and typically colder spots on Long Island.
WEATHER RADAR
The same goes for Wednesday & Thursday except with more sunshine, then things begin to modify on Friday with low to mid 60’s.
Your weekend is looking perfect for late October, with sunshine and 65-70 degree temps possible depending on the final wind profile.
Overall, we’re not looking too bad with this pattern. We don’t see anything Sandy-like to round out the end of October, plus we have a few mild prospects ahead and in between these stronger cold fronts and crisp nights. For a Halloween Hail-Mary toss, I’m going to go with sun & clouds and upper 50’s to mid 60’s and a relatively “mild” night near 50.
