NYC Quiet But Gloomy Week Ahead

NYC Quiet But Gloomy Week Ahead

Good morning everyone. First and foremost, yes it can be quiet and rainy at the same time. Compared to the weather we’ve had, with heavy rains, massive flooding, severe weather, and some snow here and there, this is considered quiet for the season we’ve had so far.

We have one more very cold day today, then our true arctic air takes a break until some time in February. We have a daisy-chain system heading in on Tuesday, and that’ll send waves of low pressure our way over the course of the next several days. The one of biggest concern as far as snow, looks to slip out to sea with little to no consequence as of this moment. If anything changes, we’ll be on top of it.

We’ll also watch closely a disturbance coming down from the Great Lakes towards the end of the month to see if this Clipper-system gets a little spicy, but other than that, we have nothing on the table right now aside from some rain.

Look for sunshine and very cold conditions again today. Highs will be in the 25-30 range today, then upper teens to low 20’s overnight.

WEATHER RADAR

We begin to modify tomorrow under AM sunshine tomorrow, then increasing clouds late. Highs will be in the 35-40 range, then mid to upper 20’s overnight. For this time of season, we are dead-average tomorrow.

Clouds will continue to lower and thicken on Tuesday with the chance of rain beginning some time between mid afternoon and evening. Depending on how early it starts, you might see some graupel or sleet mixed in during the onset, but this is a primary-rain event. Highs Tuesday in the upper 30’s to low 40’s.

On & off rain continues on Wednesday and Thursday, with cloudy and raw conditions and highs in the mid 40’s Wednesday, 45-50 Thursday. Showery conditions continue Friday, with highs in the low 50’s.

We’ll watch that weekend system closely, but as of now we’re just gauging on how much sunshine-to-clouds to expect as that system grazes us or misses us.
