NYC Quiet & Cold Conditions Settle In
Good morning everyone. Our powerful storm system that gave the Northeast strong winds and heavy rain, is quickly departing the area. With it, cold air is swooping on in with windy conditions and flurries/Lake Effect snows well inland & across east/southeast facing lake shores. Once the Lake Effect shuts off, we remain mostly quiet until our next system due in on Sunday night.
The real action is out on the West Coast, where a very potent storm system is coming ashore after a 10-15 day break. In fact, this is the first of a series of 2 equally powerful systems that’ll impact areas of California, Oregon, and Washington over the course of the next 72+ hours. After that, we go quiet again for a bit, but expect a wild ride today through Saturday.
Along coastal sections of Oregon, we’re looking at 70mph wind gusts possible along with some heavy rain. Heavy rain will extend southward into the northern California coast, and even cities such as San Francisco could see some much needed rain. Inland, heavy snows will rake areas of north-central California, where up to 20″ of snow is possible. This is for the first system only, and we are expecting a repeat tomorrow into Saturday.
Here is your local NYC Metro forecast –
SATELLITE
Mostly sunny and blustery conditions take hold today, with wind gusts to 35-40mph possible. Highs already happened today, and you can expect temps to continue to fall through the 30’s. Look for a cold one tonight, with lows in the low to mid 20’s. Highs don’t recover much tomorrow, but at least winds settle down. We’ll have a cold day in the low to mid 30’s.
WEATHER RADAR
Cold air remains locked in for Saturday with more mid 30’s and sunshine, then clouds increase Sunday with near 40 degree temps. We could see some onset rain/snow mix Sunday night, before temps rise to near 50 on Monday and it’ll be a mostly rain event.
