NYC Quiet Stretch Then Gloomy Stretch

NYC Quiet Stretch Then Gloomy Stretch

Good morning everyone and time to do some stretching. We are in a quiet period right now, with cold air leaving tonight and modifying temps. We remain dry and comfortable for a few days, then a piece-meal system will come along and bring us 3 days of gloom. No doom though as snow remains elusive late this season and the clock ticks.

SATELLITE

Today will be our last cold one for a week, with sunny skies, dry conditions, and highs in the low to mid 30’s in most spots. Overnight we drop into the mid to upper 20’s, and that small drop in temps represent a change in airmass.

REGIONAL RADAR

Our weekend is looking perfect for the last 7 days of February. 5 years ago this week we were in the teens and most bays in the area were frozen across. We’re not even close to those conditions, with sunny skies and mid to upper 40’s Saturday; then near 50 temps Sunday and sunny skies remain.

LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

storm free

Monday begins the approach of our next system but we remain dry for the day. Expect increasing clouds late and highs near 50 again. Rain should move in some time late Monday night and sunrise Tuesday AM.

Expect on and off rain virtually Tuesday through Thursday with a front getting hung up near the coast and a series of waves moving northeast. Don’t expect any snow though as we remain in the 45-50 range during this bout of gloom and rain.

LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA

In the intermediate range, more cold air moves in behind that conglomerate of rain, and we should have a fairly cold weekend on our hands as 30’s return for maybe a 3 day stretch. There’s still no snow in the forecast and it’s getting late very quick as the gears of spring start to turn in the lower Midwest.
