NYC Rain Timing Friday May Hamper High Temps
Good morning everyone. We have our fairly vigorous system just to our south, possibly brushing the area overnight. As we’ve gone over for the past few days, there’s simply not enough cold air to work with here to take advantage of any light snow we could’ve gotten out of this. In the medium range, a snow-hostile pattern continues, with our next system putting us in the mild to very mild realm. How mild we go will all depend on the timing of precip, clouds, and wind.
SATELLITE
Expect increasing clouds today with highs in the 45-50 range. Lows overnight will dip into the mid 30’s to near 40, and we could see the slight chance of some light rain. The best chance to see it will be the Jersey shore and Long Island. If you’re up to see it, some sleet balls or wet snowflakes could be mixed in here or there with the light rain. Absolutely no accumulation is expected.
Tomorrow we go sunny and slightly breezy after some AM clouds. Expect highs in the 50-55 range.
WEATHER RADAR
Sunshine continues on Tuesday, but we dip slightly with highs mostly in the near 50/low 50 realm, then clouds begin to creep in on Wednesday ahead of some milder air. If we can maximize the sunshine and wind profile, look for upper 50’s to low 60’s.
Our next system begins its approach on Thursday, with some AM sun, increasing clouds, then a chance of a few PM showers. Same goes for Thursday with highs, and all will depend on how much sunshine we get before clouds and showers head in. For now we will call for more upper 50’s to low 60’s.
Friday remains the most questionable days as far as high temps. Originally, we though mid 60’s could be easy to pull off. However, front timing and precip timing will be crucial as far as seeing how high we go. We are going to go conservative for now and call for more upper 50’s to low 60’s, especially along the coast with a SSW flow ripping across the relatively cooler ocean. Regardless, we’ll see a big drop in temps with the passage of that front, and you should see lows in the mid to upper 20’s.
The weekend continues to look sunny, breezy, dry, and cool, with highs in the 40-45 range each day.
