NYC Remains Quiet But Cloudier Than Expected

NYC Remains Quiet But Cloudier Than Expected

Good morning everyone. Clouds have arrived early and unfortunately, that’s going to be the name of the game for the next 5-6 days. The good news is that we are fairly quiet till late Tuesday as we await our next true storm system; but clouds will be stubborn otherwise due to a weak disturbance passing by, and high pressure sending maritime air our way.

That weak disturbance will bring some light showers, light snow, and light mixed precip (elevation-dependent) to interior parts of the Northeast, but a few light sprinkles could meander our way tomorrow and tomorrow night. That passes by on Monday, but the bigger system is already approaching Tuesday, so any type of decreasing clouds Monday, will be replaced quickly by increasing clouds Tuesday.

Our system is well-gone by Friday, but then we have to watch for frigid air trying to make an appearance some time at or after the New Year. Everything will hang on how strong our low pressure system is and where it sets up. If things set up “right”, disturbances will ride around on the back end of our blocked off low pressure system, and send in reinforcing shots of cold air originating from central/upper Canada.

WEATHER RADAR

Look for decreasing clouds on Monday with a few blue breaks and low 50’s. Clouds increase again on Tuesday with the chance of PM light rain. We’re in the mild sector of this system, so expect more low 50’s.

The steadiest rain occurs on Wednesday with low to mid 50’s, then rain tapers off Thursday morning and decreasing clouds late w/ maybe a few scattered showers left over. Highs Thursday occur early and in the low 50’s, but then we begin to drop before sunset.

Energy sticks around on Friday with low pressure hanging back, and sunshine will help create more clouds and widely scattered popcorn showers. Highs will be cooler in the low to mid 40’s.
