NYC Rough Late Week Ahead

Good morning everyone. We have ourselves a semi-decent day today before things slowly deteriorate over the next 48 hrs. We’ve been keeping a close eye on Hurricane Zeta, which is expected to make landfall some time late Wednesday evening in SE Louisiana, then link up with winter storm in the lower Rockies and head our way.

Clouds will be stubborn today, but we could see a few blue patches here and there. We’ll have highs near 60 for a seasonable day.

Tomorrow we could see a few AM showers or sprinkles before those clouds exit, then we may even see a brief period of sunshine before clouds increase again. Look for highs near 60 tomorrow again.

Those increasing clouds will be ahead of Thursday and Friday’s system. We could see a few showers in the AM on Thursday, but the bulk of the rain should hold off until some time between 12-5pm. After that, it’ll be downhill as the rain gets steadier and heavier. Expect rain, heavy at times throughout the evening and night. Highs Thursday will be in the mid to upper 50’s.

By Friday, we’ll be on the back end of our system, but the rain isn’t done yet. It’ll be a raw and breezy day, with windswept rain and highs not getting out of the 40’s. It’ll be a good day to stay home if feasible.

Overall rain totals should range between 2-5″ depending on where the heaviest rain sets up, and that’ll cause localized flooding in poor drainage areas.

Low’s overnight Friday will be the coldest of the season we’ve had so far, but clouds and wind should keep the frost potential to a minimum. Expect lows in the low to mid 30’s, and we could see some 20’s upstate.

Halloween on Saturday is going to be a rough one as well even though it’ll be sunny. For those Trick or Treater’s, we’re going to have highs in the mid to upper 40’s and breezy conditions. During the evening when most kids walk around, we’ll be in the upper 30’s to low 40’s, so dress the kids very warm.

Things calm down a bit on Sunday, and we’ll have sun & clouds with highs returning to the 55-60 range.
