NYC SATURDAY SNOW ENDS MORE SNOW TOMORROW NIGHT
Good morning everyone. Snow is coming to an end west to east now in the New York City, Long Island area. Most areas saw a general 1-3″ with some locally higher amounts for those who didn’t start with a mix first. This system departs, and gives enough clearance for another snow event here in the City tomorrow night, and this one has the potential to be a little bit heftier, a little bit.
EASTERN SATELLITE
Snow comes to an end soon and we remain mostly cloudy today. Highs in the upper 30’s to low 40’s will help melt some of what fell last night. The moisture content is pretty high with our accumulation, so things should shrink pretty rapidly; but with no sun, it won’t get everything.
REGIONAL RADAR
Clouds remain overnight with lows in the low 30’s, and we keep the clouds here tomorrow for the approach of our next system. We’ll start off with the slight chance of rain tomorrow late afternoon as we begin the process in the upper 30’s to low 40’s. Then atmospheric (and surface) cooling will help change anything wet into snow and we should squeeze a moderately decent snowfall out of this before things quickly depart.
Snow Map Generated, Questions remain for immediate shore
Aside from the drizzly/rainy start, things will be mostly snow in most areas with this system. However, questions remain for the immediate shores of the NYC area and Long Island since that rain/snow line is going to be very close for at least half the time our system is with us.
Expect a general 3-6″ snowfall, but we could see some locally higher amounts, especially inland areas, the north shore of Long Island, and Manhattan/Bronx on northward.
This is basically all this storm is going to be able to produce due to its quick arrival and exit, but at least it gives snow lovers a little taste before spring arrives.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
Everything is gone early on Monday, and we’ll hang onto upper 30’s before unseasonably cold air arrives for Tuesday onward.
Expect upper 20’s to low 30’s as highs on Tuesday, then we dip into the mid to upper 20’s Wednesday. Very cold air remains on Thursday before we slightly modify Friday as our next system approaches. During this period, mid to upper teens are likely overnight, so prepare for some January weather in March.
As of now, we could get another taste of snow changing to rain late Friday into Saturday, then things look to slowly relax with the cold weather talk and we go more seasonal.
