NYC SATURDAY STUNNER SUNDAY SEASONABLE

NYC SATURDAY STUNNER SUNDAY SEASONABLE – Good morning everyone, what a tremendous turn of events here in the New York City area weather-wise. After what was thought to be a gloomy weekend, gradually became drier, and now onto full fledged sunny.

Look for more sun than clouds today, a light northeasterly breeze, and highs 80-85 in most areas; slightly cooler at the shore. Clouds sneak in late tonight as that slight chance of a shower remains, but most of the action will be to our south and west; plus, anything that does reach here will be very brief/widely scattered. Tomorrow, the northeasterly flow continues; which we’ll take at this point because it’s pushing everything away from us. Expect more clouds than sun tomorrow at times, highs 75-80.

For our entry into the week, we could have a close call with some rain on Monday, but as of now we’ll continue to go with everything being suppressed to our southwest. East winds cool things off slightly and we’ll be in the low to mid 70’s. Full sun returns for Tuesday for a more seasonable day and 75-80 make a comeback.

Midweek, I continue to see an increase in humidity, moisture, and an uptick in temps. Mid 80’s return for Wednesday, with low to mid 80’s and increased muggy conditions possible to end the week. Each day will have a slight chance of a thunderstorm, but the best chance will be interior parts of the Northeast. As of this moment, Father’s Day weekend is looking dry and seasonable/slightly above average for the NYC metro area.

While we still see strong hints of our stubborn pattern, I’m starting to see subtle changes happening. We continue to achieve our dry air and warmer temps through a maritime flow, which is unconventional. However, it seems as if our dry air is pushing more and more southwesterly. This may eventually help break down the pattern completely when the jet stream snaps back in response, putting us in a more summer-like pattern. At this point, it’s all speculation, but I’m growing confident we could see some big changes towards the end of the month and more of a “conventional” pattern.
