NYC SCATTERED LIGHT SNOW SLEET RAIN TODAY

NYC SCATTERED LIGHT SNOW SLEET RAIN TODAY – Good morning everyone! If you’re just waking up, you’re doing so to some good news. What was being depicted by models for the past few days will not pan out in the form that was presented, giving us just a cloudy day with some scattered light frozen/liquid precip.

Clouds will be with us for pretty much the entire day, with any snow and sleet this morning, mixing with and/or changing to rain as temps warm up into the upper 30’s; Little to no accumulation is expected. Tonight, it is still possible we might see some light snow as the low departs and strengthens, but it’ll be moving so fast, most of the action will remain offshore.

As stated in yesterday’s forecast, if the trough doesn’t form, we see very little to no accumulating snow. Whenever this is depicted by models, we are very skeptical because it’s a very rare phenomena. That being said, we have to cover it because if this type of trough did form, it could dump heavy snow in a very localized and very narrow area.

For tomorrow, we’ll have sun and clouds, strong gusty winds, and highs in the mid 40’s. Things warm up Monday with a light breeze, sunny skies, and highs near 50. Tuesday will be the nicest day of the bunch, as winds calm down and we’ll have highs again near 50. Colder air moves back in Tuesday night and will be with us for a few days. Highs Wednesday and Thursday will be in the mid to upper 30’s, with Friday in the mid 40’s.

For the weekend, volatile and active weather returns as we could see a warm day on Saturday as a big system goes to our north and west. We’ll go into temperatures as we get closer, but as discussed in my long range this week, we could have some wild swings coming up, with a warm day here and there that’ll be system-related, then a return to cool air. Stay tuned!
