NYC SEVERE WEATHER CLOSE PROXIMITY AUGUST HEATWAVE POSSIBLE – Good morning everyone. We have a hot and humid one here in NYC today, then we’ll keep an eye to the sky for a close call with strong to severe storms lurking. Aside from a beautiful Sunday still in the works, the big news could be a possible heatwave brewing to start off August.

Expect hot and humid conditions today as a cold front approaches the area. Any line of storms should be somewhat narrow, and as stated yesterday, it’s possible it could break up before it reaches the City; sending one part north and one part south. However, we will be keeping a very close eye on everything as strong winds, hail, frequent lightning, and localized flooding is possible with these storms. Highs today will be in the upper 80’s to low 90’s.

Tomorrow, we’ll have another very warm one, with clouds and sun, the slight chance of an afternoon boomer, highs in the upper 80’s. Sunday is looking grand as full sunshine and drier air take the reigns. Expect highs in the mid 80’s with very light winds. Sunday is the day to be out on the water if you were to pick which boating day is best.

On Monday, we continue the sunshine and mid 80’s, then the humidity starts creeping back in for Tuesday onward. While it won’t be as strong as the last pattern, a weak troughy pattern returns, giving us warm, tropical, and humid conditions, mid 80’s, and a chance for showers and storms at any point day or night during the week.

As of now, things slowly start to change on Thursday as the cloud cover and moisture loosen its grip somewhat. Humid conditions will remain, but less cloud cover and less precip could help us achieve upper 80’s on Thursday, then 90+ temps Friday onward. This is all speculative at this point, but it’s possible we hold onto 90+ temps next Friday to that following Friday. We’ll be keeping a close eye on it all to see if the likelihood increases or decreases.
